n\n\n\nFAQs\nHow do I get there?\nWe encourage using public transportation
. We are conveniently located near the Borough Hall\, Court Street\, and C
lark Street subway stations\, accessible via the 2/3\, 4/5\, R\, and W lin
es.\nWhere do I park? \nParking is very limited in Brooklyn Heights. Stre
et parking is free\, but be prepared to spend extra time looking for an op
en spot. Paid parking garages can be found on Clinton St\, near Pierrepont
St\, as well as closer to Cadman Plaza and the courthouses.\nI am in a wh
eelchair or use a mobility aid. Can I access your building? \nYes! Howeve
r\, our historic building has some accessibility limitations. We have a ch
air lift at the corner of Pierrepont St and Monroe Pl to assist you direct
ly into the Sanctuary\, and our Ushers or Sexton will be ready to greet yo
u starting half an hour before services start. It is recommended (but not
required) to contact us in advance - at info@firstubrooklyn.org - if you p
lan to use the lift so we can be prepared to assist you. \n\nRestrooms (i
ncluding an accessible restroom) and the fellowship hour following service
s are located downstairs\; we have a second chair lift inside the adjacent
McKinney Chapel to assist guests to those spaces. However\, please note t
his does require exiting the building and taking the chair lift down the s
tairs to re-enter the building through the Chapel.\nI wear a hearing aid.
Will I be able to clearly listen to the services?\nYes! All amplified soun
d in the Sanctuary and Chapel are connected to an audio induction loop sys
tem.\nWhat do I wear?\nWhatever you like! If you are sensitive to scents\,
including perfumes and laundry soaps\, we have a dedicated scent-free sec
tion of pews on the far left side of the Sanctuary.\nCan I bring my dog?\n
Service animals are welcome. They should generally be harnessed\, leashed\
, or tethered - unless the equipment interferes with the animal's work or
the handler's disability prevents its use. In those circumstances\, the ha
ndler must maintain control through voice commands\, signals\, or other ef
fective means. For preservation of First U’s historic property and the s
afety of all\, pets and emotional support animals that do not qualify as s
ervice animals are not permitted inside the building.\nCan I eat or drink
during services?\nNo food or drink is permitted in the Sanctuary\, except
for water in closed containers. Food and drink are permitted in our other
rooms - the Undercroft (where the fellowship hour is held after services)\
 , McKinney Chapel\, Frances White Room\, Servetus Library\, Teen Room\, Ea
stman Room\, and Kitchen. Trash\, Recycling\, and Compost bins are provide
 d in those spaces.
